What if I do not pass my course?Your American Heart Association CPR course is an open-book course. Most students are able to pass the course seamlessly. Occasionally, a student may not pass the skills portion or written exam for the course. In these instances, students have one opportunity to correct their skills or to re-take the written exam. Failure of the skills check or written exam a second time, will result in a course failure, and registration and payment for another course will be required.
-
What do I need to do in preparation for my virtual skills session? For the best training experience possible, we suggest that you choose a quiet room, free of background noise, that allows for enough floor space for you to be able to place yourself and comfortably administer compressions to the manikin. You may also place the manikin on a sturdy surface, as long as the height is comfortable for you to be able to administer proper compressions. Your camera should be angled in such a way that the entire manikin is visible, also allowing viewing of the participant's hands placement. Additionally, you must have a reliable internet connection.
-
Does my camera need to be on the entire time?Video access must be available during skills practice, skills testing, and during the exam. The camera may be turned off during other times. We do ask that participants mute their microphone, except during the questions-and-answers sections.
-
I have never done video conferencing before, is previous video conferencing experience required?Although prior experience is not necessary, a basic understanding of virtual meetings is expected to avoid prolonging the length of the course and to be respectful of other students who are participating.
